Fatty fish contain a lot of omega-3 fatty acids. These are known for their anti-inflammatory properties. The study shows that eating fish twice a week can help reduce asthma in children. In addition to a traditional Mediterranean diet rich in plant foods and oily fish, this could be a simple, safe, and effective way to alleviate asthma symptoms in children, the experts explain.

What did fish consumption do in children?

64 children aged 5 to 12 years from Greece participated in the clinical study. All participants suffered from mild asthma. The subjects were divided into two groups for the study. One group had to eat two meals of cooked fatty fish (at least 150 grams) per week for six months. The remaining children maintained their normal diet. At the end of the study, the medical team found that children from the group who regularly consumed fish reduced their bronchial inflammation by 14 units. (as)
