Recall: freshcompany GmbH is calling “Take Away” sandwich “Ham & Gouda” 185g with an expiration date that was too long

According to the manufacturer, sandwiches from “freshcompany GmbH” are being recalled from the net markets in Germany “for precautionary reasons”. This is the article: "Ham & Gouda" (185 g). According to the manufacturer, “it cannot be ruled out that this item may have been given the wrong best before date 25.05.2019”. This means that consumers might think that the article is still stable, but that it already contains pathogens and can cause diarrhea, for example.

Incorrectly declared best before date

The guaranteed minimum shelf life of the sandwiches "Ham & Gouda" is 24.04.2019. Until this date, the harmless properties are still guaranteed. After April 24th, 2019, consumers should no longer eat the sandwiches.

Be careful with the shelf life of meat, eggs and milk products

Special care should always be taken with eggs and dairy products. However, these goods do not have to be disposed of immediately if the date of minimum durability has passed only a short time ago. Hardly anyone knows that, in many cases, yogurts are still edible up to three weeks after the specified date. This also applies to cheeses, especially hard cheeses, which can usually also be enjoyed for at least two weeks longer. If mold has already formed or the color has changed, these foods should however be disposed of.

Sausage and meat can often be kept longer than specified, but consumers should be a little more careful when it comes to sausage and meat products, as bacteria are particularly abundant there and can lead to diarrhea. Raw meat like minced meat should never be stored in the refrigerator for longer than a day if it is eaten raw. Has the meat already changed its color, does it look greasy and smells slightly of decay? Then consumption should be avoided.

Panic is inappropriate

With the net sandwich from freshcompany GmbH, however, notes should be observed, even if exaggerated reports in this context are currently misleading consumers. A Munich daily newspaper even headlined that the sandwiches could be “deadly”. Of course, that's nonsense as long as consumers don't eat the sandwiches until May 25, 2019, but only until April 24, 2019. In addition, freshcompany GmbH and Netto reacted immediately and removed the goods from sale. Other best-before dates, other types of "Take Away" sandwich and other freshcompany GmbH articles are not affected by this recall.

Refund of the purchase price guaranteed

Customers who have bought the corresponding product can return it to their shops for a refund of the purchase price without presenting the receipt. Consumer inquiries are also answered on the free hotline 0800-2000015 (Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. - 10.30 p.m.).

Many products are currently being recalled from the trade. So parents should no longer give this toy to their toddlers, as there is a risk of suffocation. In the worst case, a seesaw can also lead to death. Aldi is currently recalling a sausage because of bacteria. (sb)
