Recall from Aldi: Buns can contain metal foreign bodies

Panificio Italiano Veritas GmbH from Munich has started a recall for the product "Panini Rustico, Natural variety". According to the company, it cannot be excluded that there are metal foreign bodies in the rolls. It is not recommended to consume the product.

Panificio Italiano Veritas GmbH calls back rolls with the product name "Gourmet - Finest Cuisine Panini Rustico" of the "Nature" variety with a best before date (best before date): May 9, 2018. According to the company, it cannot be ruled out that the product in question may contain metal foreign bodies in individual cases.

Sold at Aldi

According to a message that the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) published on its portal "", the product affected by the recall was sold at Aldi Nord in the regional companies Mittenwalde and Scharbeutz and in individual regions of the Aldi Süd area.

According to the information, the food discounter reacted immediately and has already taken the affected packs out of sale.

Consumers can return packages in their stores without a receipt for a refund of the purchase price in their branches.

Do not consume the product

"As a precaution, customers who bought the product mentioned should no longer consume the product," the company writes.

Foreign bodies in food can lead to various, sometimes severe, injuries and complaints. Depending on the size, nature and material, they can cause wounds in the mouth and throat when chewing.

In addition, swallowed parts of the appropriate size can block the esophagus or digestive organs and cause internal injuries. If smaller parts remain in the body, they can sometimes cause inflammation. (ad)
